News: Starting back…

March 14th, 2008 by systech

Yes, Mellow Music is back!

- Why?
Because I feel like it. I was a bit tired of writing a review every day and that’s why I quit and started doing other stuff to entertain myself: it wasn’t fun anymore … But now I feel like writing back.

- Is it going to be the same?
No, I will definitely post less than before, so that it remains fun for me. I will also post some random rants sometimes, just because I like it. There will be no more Musicnews or Tournews : I don’t think anyone really read that stuff and it wasn’t fun writing it.

So you can expect some fresh album reviews in the near future!

PS: I also updated the frontpage of ICkStuff … A lot better now in my opinion!

News: Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, Athlete, Aqualung, Dashboard Confessional, U2, The Shins, Amandine

September 20th, 2007 by systech

  • Last details of the upcoming album of Jimmy Eat World! ‘Chase The Lights’ will be available in stores from 16 October and it’ll be packed with these songs:

    Big Casino
    Let It Happen
    Like She’ll Always Be
    Carry You
    Electable (Give It Up)
    Gotta Be Somebody’s Blues
    Feeling Lucky
    Here It Goes
    Chase This Light
    Firefight
    Dizzy

    On Billboard they say:

“The record is quite eclectic,” Vig told Billboard.com. “There are three or four songs that sound like classic Jimmy Eat World, with angular, razor-sharp guitars. There are a couple that are a lot more dreamy, and some that are very groove-acious. Anybody who is fan will like this record.”

And this is the (quite ugly :x) cover (linked from Stereogum):
Jimmy eat world chase this light cover

They are also re-recording ‘Your House’ (originally on Bleed American), and it will probably be released as a B-side.

  • The Killers are going to release a new album (which will contain some remixes of older albums) this year and also a B-side album.
  • Listen to the Camp America Remix of Athlete’s single ‘Hurricane’:

  • Matt Hales of Aqualung is blogging: follow him here!
  • Forthcoming ‘The Shade of Poison Trees’ of Dashboard Confessional will be back like in the early days: acoustic! You can listen to some new stuff of it on their Myspace (I think, I’m not gonna check it, since I’m at work now…)
  • U2’s new album has been written and will be released in 2008. There ought to be some footage of them rehearsing the new songs, but I don’t know where … google it yourself!
  • The Shins - Little Boxes (Theme to Weeds, a tv show):

There is also a version of The Decemberists that is said to be quite good … google it!
  • Amandine also started working on a new album. No extra information available …

News: Great Lake Swimmers, The National, Razorlight, Coldplay, Death Cab for Cutie

September 15th, 2007 by systech

  1. Spotted a nice free EP on Aquarium Drunkard of Great Lake Swimmers, thought I’d share it with you all …
  2. A new video of The National:
  3. Some album news from Razorlight: Read more on NME!
  4. Some Coldplay album news:
As we can read on RS:

Coldplay posted a hand-written note on their website with details on the foundations for the next, Brian Eno-produced album. The set will have a running time of about forty-two minutes, with a tracklist of approximately nine tunes. Among the possible songs making the cut are “Cemeteries of London,” “Violet Hill,” “Poppy Fields,” “42,” “Leftrightleftrightleft,” “Rainy Day” and the exclamation-happy duo of “Lost!” and “Yes!” The band is still “a few months from finishing” the follow-up to 2005’s X & Y.

  5. And last but not least also album news of Death Cab for Cutie:
They are ready with the pre-production of the follow-up to Plans.
