Review
The mood that The National creates with its music is overall quite dark, but not depressing. It is as you’re standing, late at night, alone in an empty street. Sometimes you see/feel something beautiful, sometimes you just get a bit of a scared feeling.
The music (not the lyrics) gives me a retrospective feeling on my past, that I see flashing in slowmotion before my eyes; but I can imagine this music having other effects on you. Although the melodies aren’t really inspiring and the voice of Matt Berninger is quite monotone, their songs never get boring. Also listen to their lyrics that are very well written. For The National-fans that live in Europe, don’t miss them in November
My favorite song: 1. Fake Empire
